Ambassadors-BlueFin-Jun05.jpg What's in it for your school?

The DRI is committed to help to raise the value that Victorians place on our local marine world. We will do this by ...

-Providing your school with a monthly insert for your newsletter. This will focus on an issue within our marine environment and provide you with a pin up of one of Victoria's living marine treasures.

-Providing you, throughout the school year, with suggested activities, competitions and projects which can be utilised by the ambassadors to engage the whole school community.

-We will do our best to attend at least one of your school assemblies during the year to talk to the children about the Project and how their involvement is helping to make a difference.

-Your school's ambassadors may have the chance to be in the running for an end of year Award for Excellence. The 2005 winners (pictured) were treated to a day aboard the marine research vessel Blue Fin. You can read some of the reports and newsletters written by these School Ambassadors for their school communities. There are some light-hearted and some serious reflections on their Ambassadors' Day in Port Phillip, aboard the Blue Fin.

-If your school chooses to organise an excursion to the Institute's Marine Conservation Centre at Hastings, we will include a complimentary visit to your class before they come to our Centre, to enhance their experience.

How does the project work?

The 'i sea, i care' School Ambassadors Project is simple and stress free - we do the work for you!

Your school will select 3 ambassadors to represent your school (1 teacher and 2 students (Gr 4-6)).

Your ambassadors will be invited to attend 2 - 3 workshops* a year. (*Workshops may not be available for some regional areas).

The workshops are organised by the Institute to excite and motivate your ambassadors to learn more about issues affecting our marine environment. These workshops are not compulsory, however, they are a great way to meet other ambassadors and excite your school representatives by sharing other schools' projects, incentives and achievements!

All schools are asked to Adopt-A-Dolphin at the beginnning of the year.

At just $100 yearly membership, one fundraising event of your choice is all it takes.

There is no reason not to be involved!

When you take everything into consideration, there is no reason for your school not to be involved in this exciting program.

It is a great opportunity to give two of your students a great leadership role.

There is no fuss - you can get as involved as you like. All that we ask is that you run the monthly newsletter to help to raise awareness about our wonderful marine world.

Involvement in our Adopt-A-Dolphin program through 'i sea, i care' ambassadorships will give all of your students more ownership of the project. Download the 'i sea, i care' brochure and application form now.
